The Invasion Curve has long been used to explain the importance and value of prevention, followed by early detection & rapid response (EDRR), because once an invasive species becomes too established and widespread, controlling the impacts of that species is difficult if not impossible using chemical and mechanical control tools alone.  This graphic was created to help explain how classical biological control is one of the only available cost-effective and sustainable tools that can manage or help manage an invasive pest or weed’s impacts.
